The Economic Development Department is organized exclusively for the purposes of benefiting and accomplishing public purposes of the City of Brownfield, Texas, by promoting, assisting, and enhancing economic development activities for the City as provided by the Development Corporation Act of 1979 as amended.

Economic Development is overseen by the Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation.  The affairs of the Corporation shall be managed by a Board of Directors.  The City Council shall appoint the Directors of the Corporation.  The number of Directors shall be five (5).  The Budget for the Economic Devlopement Department is funded by the 1/2 cent sales tax.

The City has specifically authorized the Corporation by Resolution to act on its behalf to further the public purposes stated in said Resolution.

It is the goal of BIDCorp to promote and enhance the overall economic welfare of Brownfield, Terry County, Texas.
